new article in merkur newspaper

Today the MÜNCHNER & STARNBERGER MERKUR published a nice article about my new projects like “YOX” and “La Línea Imaginaria”, as well as information about my current film music awards and upcoming offers.

Hollywood knocks on the door! “Germany. A summer`s fairytale”, “The Miracle Of Bern” “Pope Joan”: Marcel Barsotti has worked on several successful projects in his career as a film composer. Born in Lucerne, raised in Munich, who set up a new recording studio in Starnberg in 2018, he is internationally known in the scene and well connected. And yet he himself can hardly believe what is happening to him right now. “More has happened in the last two months than in ten years,” he says. “I’m so happy”. Barsotti has already won 27 awards for his compositions this year. And twelve nominations are still pending. When the phone rings in Barsotti’s house, it could soon be another producer with happy news. The awards have reached him from the USA, Spain, Italy, France, South America, Asia and Austria. Barsotti is particularly proud of the Cannes World Film Festival Award, the New York Cinematography Awards and the Rome International Movie Awards. The winner par excellence was his film music for “La Línea Imagnaria” – a short film by director Philip Escobar-Jung from Puerto Rico about a father-son relationship. The soundtrack – sustained melodies that lend drama to the images from the Caribbean – was released in February. Barsotti was also successful with the short film “Das Portrait” by Jakob Hüfner and “Klabautermann” by Anke Sevenich. The soundtrack to the German mystery thriller “Forgiveness” by director Philip Brenke won at the “Hollywood Blood Horror Festival”. The Starnberg native could soon make the leap into a Hollywood production. He received a request and is in the shortlist for a star-studded feature film. “It’s a big challenging project”. He is not allowed to say more yet” and adds, “And if it doesn’t work out, I’m also at peace with myself”. He prefers to make arthouse films. For years, his film compositions have also become more electronic. Sound from his own creative conviction, instead of getting ahead with commissioned work alone. That it can work successfully is shown by his new album “YOX” which he released on Monday under the artist name em BI. With 40,000 Spotify streams in just two days. The single DNA from the album has also already won an award at the London Movie Awards in the category Best Original Song & Video. Marcel Barsotti says from the bottom of his heart: “I believe you succeed when you are not subject to pressure”.
