first trophy for his director debut

NEW REPORT IN THE MERKUR MAGAZINE. Here is a recommended report in the Munich Merkur Magazine about my trip to Toronto and Vienna, where I won on both festivals with my science fiction ‘Transformation’. Many thanks to Tobias Gmach for the detailed report. The picture shows me and the Canadian rock star Tom Wilson (Dig It), who had won the Lifetime Achievement Award there (copyright by IPF24). “Marcel Barsotti from Starnberg has won the Honorary Award at the International Peace Festival (IPF) in Toronto with his AI science fiction short film ‘Transformation’. The 13-minute film takes a look into the future and explores the question of how and when peace is possible on our planet. Barsotti received the award at the smart King Edward Hotel. At a festival at which presenter Oprah Winfrey, among others, was honoured for the Lifetime Achievement. Barsotti reports: ‘It was a fantastic event full of creative and emotional encounters with directors, producers, filmmakers, the German ambassador Ms. Barbara de Tschaschell, IPF Vice President Angelique Codina and many well-known personalities from the film industry.’ Having landed from Canada, Barsotti, previously known to everyone as a film music composer (The Pope), boarded the train to Vienna. There he received another award at the Schikaneder cinema at the Austrian Film Festival. Eleven nominations still received his film. He is particularly eagerly awaiting its German premiere at the Biberach Film Festival on 31 October. ‘Transformation’ takes a visually stunning and critical look at the future of the Earth, which is populated by a different species in the film. The feedback and assessments from production companies and festivals have been very positive so far “.
