MAKING OF “TRANSFORMATION“ PART2: THE SCORE. „After I had finished the first act of the film, I had already worked on the film music and sound design at the same time. I wanted to test how everything worked together before I continued working on the film. For the soundtrack, I programmed heavy brasses and electronic drones on my analogue synthesizers, and I developed many sound scapes on my two Waldorfs and the Moog One. I also tested a few new software synthesisers especially for this project. I also recorded my own alien sounds, which I ran through various effects units and sequencers and incorporated into the score. I wanted to compose a very dense and dark score that would accompany ‘Transformation’ in a pulsating and dystopian way and merge with the menacing sound design. Basically, composing was much more difficult than working with other directors. Because I was the director and my standards were now much higher than with other film scores. And I was finally allowed to compose what you are unfortunately rarely allowed to do with German films: to be courageous, to defy all conventions and genres. Of course, the soundtrack will also be released. A little more patience. See you soon for MAKING OF PART3“.
