‘The Earth is devastated, the food chain destroyed – only the mysterious yellow Nova is keeping humanity alive. Meanwhile, an alien species searches for a new home and finds it on planet Earth. A conflict breaks out over habitats. In TRANSFORMATION, director Marcel Barsotti unfolds a visually stunning vision of the future that is created exclusively from AI-generated images. The architecture and landscapes in particular impress with their sophisticated colour concept and hypnotic aesthetics. But it is precisely in the visible breaks that the artificial images still evoke, whether in movements, crowd scenes or the distanced AI narrative voice, that a fascination is revealed: an artificially created world has been created here that appears both perfect and broken, almost imperfect, and thus regains a naturalness. Carried by a powerful montage, monumental music and a dense atmosphere, TRANSFORMATION is a sci-fi short film that is less a conventional narrative and more a field of visual experimentation.
